When you get offered a free dinner buffet at a five star hotel, you NEVER say no.
That’s right, free food! So I got the chance to have a luxurious dinner at Centara Grand Central World‘s buffet restaurant The World. The restaurant boasts an extensive buffet selection with great variety – French, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Western cuisines.
A big skyscraper in the shape of an emerging lotus flower can be seen in the city centre of Bangkok. In this skyscraper you will find the luxurious and stylish Centara Grand Central World. When entering this hotel, you suddenly feel peaceful and calm; you don’t get the feeling that you are living in a chaotic city.
Situated on 24th floor, the first impression of the World restaurant is very modern and stylish with wine-red and soft green in their interior. Second impression was that the restaurant was quite quiet for a popular buffet restaurant. We expected it would be packed with guests but there were less than 25 guests throughout the whole night, including us (a table of six people).
Start with fresh seafood and delights from the sushi bar, choose from a wide range of specialities concocted from the open kitchen, and sweeten your dining experience with The World’s delectable French buffet dessert, while fresh fruits and ice cream offer a lighter finish.
By the way… Sorry about the photo quality, most of the photos were taken by my coworker’s phone as I was too busy (read: hungry) to take photos until I reached dessert… iPhone 6plus FTW! 🙂
The service was okay, not as good as I would expect from a restaurant in a five-star hotel, but it might also be the fact that the restaurant was very quiet as some were playing on their phones. Some were so bored that they had to follow every movement you did. I felt like I’m being watched ALL THE TIME. Like Big Brother was watching me. Not a cool feeling. Don’t judge me when I scoop my third bowl of ice cream! And yes, that’s my fifth time at the sushi bar… so what?!
The desserts were superb!
My favourite part of the buffet. Especially the creme brûlée and the macarons. I never had a macaron before and I think it’s quite expensive here in Bangkok, but now I got to try and I am hooked! Please give me more sweetness!!
Overall the buffet restaurant is worth the money! A dinner starts from 1699THB++ per person without drinks. I would definitely come here again, but hopefully there are more people around as I really don’t like being watched while eating.
How to get there: BTS Chitlom, walk to Central World. You can reach Centara Grand by going through Central World, just follow the signs.
What is you favourite buffet restaurant?
DISCLAIMER: Neng Neng got invited by Centara Hotels & Resorts. I’m not getting paid to write a post about them. I just want to share the experience with my readers.
