This last weekend was a special weekend. Not only it was my birthday, but I got to spend my birthday in a hotel… with my parents!
This must have been the biggest surprise since the mountain bike I got for my 11th birthday. I was told we (my aunt and I) were going to spend a weekend in Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit Sukhumvit. Little did I expect to see my parents standing in the hotel room. Yes, there were tears everywhere.
Apparently this surprise was planned not too long before my parent’s arrival as I only knew a few days before that I would be staying at Novotel. Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit Sukhumvit is located in the city centre, ideal for me to go to after work. When entering the building, it surprises me that it was all spacious and modern. You wouldn’t expect that from a small looking building in the city centre.
To go up any floor you need a key card, so not everyone can go up the elevator which is a good thing. We were located on 27th floor, where the Premier Executive rooms were located. Turned out we got an upgrade! Nice-uh!
When entering the room I thought we were in the wrong room as there was someone standing there. The last thing I expected were my parents and yet they were standing there, waiting to be able to surprise me. A few years ago I surprised my dad with a visit on his birthday and this felt like payback time from him. After lots of crying, I was able to take a good look inside the room.
The room was spacious, even with a roll-away bed in the room. .
The style was contemporary with cozy details everywhere. The bathroom features shower with switchable transparent glass panel that turned the shower glass wall all clear and you would be able to see the bedroom when taking a shower. Ideal when you’re staying here as a couple, but a bit awkward when you’re with your parents. But then again, brushing your teeth in the shower has never been this fun as you can just keep watching TV, hehe.
The bed was big, it fitted three of me! Also the pillow menu was no joke. So many to chose from. We didn’t chose any because the bed was already full of pillows that I like but if you’re a light sleeper, the pillow menu come in handy.
When you’re staying in the Premier Executive rooms, you have access to the Premier Lounge on 29th floor. In the evening we were sitting at the roof top terrace with complimentary wine and finger food without having the feeling of being in the city. I would highly recommend to book a room with Premier Lounge privilege, it’s worth the money.
The swimming pool, located on 9th floor, is small but good for a simple swim or a quick dip to cool off. They have a gym too, but I didn’t go there because I’m not allowed to do sports after LASIK. Next time I’ll be better prepared and bring my training gears 🙂
On my birthday, the hotel surprised us with a nice birthday cake. How thoughtful!
To be honest, I’ve never thought of staying in a Novotel hotel chain as I thought a big wellknown hotel wouldn’t have a personal feeling to it. But surprisingly they responded to almost every message that I put on social media and even followed the surprise event of my family. I even got responses from Novotel hotel in the Netherlands! Because of their great customer service and their sharp social media skills, I have fallen in love with Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit Sukhumvit, especially their social media team.
@OhMyDevoy Oh dear, Bless all of you. It's pretty stunned to get to know why your parents are here to surprise you. Have a great day guys!
